Arsenal interested in signing Juventus star Vlahovic
Arsenal are reportedly interested in signing Juventus forward Dusan Vlahovic, as per Spanish outlet Fichajes.
The Gunners have struggled with the centre-forward position in recent times. Gabriel Jesus and Kai Havertz were the options for this position last term; however, both picked up serious injuries and remained sidelined for the entirety of the second half of last season.
So, the North London club decided to reinforce the frontline by purchasing Viktor Gyokeres from Sporting CP last summer. However, he has now sustained a muscular issue and wasn’t available for selection vs Slavia Prague in the Champions League yesterday.
Jesus isn’t expected to be back before the end of this year, while Havertz returned after recovering from his problem during the early stages of this season.
However, having picked up a fresh injury, he has been sidelined over the last few weeks. Meaning, Arteta has been left without a striker once again.
Now, Fichajes state that Arsenal are contemplating purchasing a new No.9 in January and have earmarked Vlahovic as a serious option. The Serbian’s existing deal is set to expire at the end of this season, so Juventus are ready to let him leave in winter for a fee of at least £13m.
Vlahovic to Arsenal
Vlahovic is currently on a high wage at the Bianconeri but hasn’t been able to perform at the highest level since joining from Fiorentina back in 2022. So, the record Italian champions have decided not to tie him down to a fresh term.
However, the report claim that purchasing the forward won’t be straightforward for the Emirates club as Chelsea, Tottenham Hotspur, and Barcelona are also plotting a swoop.
Arsenal hold a long-standing interest in the 25-year-old as they previously attempted to buy him, having been impressed by his performances for Fiorentina. However, the player rejected a move to Arteta’s side in favour of staying in Serie A by joining Juventus.
Vlahovic showed signs of high potential during the early stages of his career, but he hasn’t been able to develop at Juventus over the last few years. So, there is a question mark whether he would be the right man for Arsenal to help them achieve their lofty ambitions should they purchase him.
