Arsenal slammed for missing out on signing Bryan Mbeumo

Former Arsenal forward Theo Walcott has slammed his former club for not signing Bryan Mbeumo.
Bukayo Saka has established himself as a talismanic figure for the Gunners since rising through the Hale End. Mikel Arteta was attempting to buy a new right-sided forward to support the Englishman over the last few years.
Raphinha was previously suggested as a potential target before his move to Barcelona. Arsenal were even interested in Mbeumo this summer, but the player reportedly refused to join any other club after agreeing on personal terms with Manchester United.
Eventually, Arteta’s side decided to reinforce the right flank by purchasing Noni Madueke from Chelsea. He enjoyed a bright start this season but has been sidelined after sustaining a knee problem.
On the other hand, Mbeumo has been showcasing impressive performances at Old Trafford, scoring five goals and registering a solitary assist in 10 appearances across all competitions.
He helped United beat Liverpool at Anfield by putting his name on the scoresheet before scoring a brace against Brighton and Hove Albion last weekend.
Arsenal slammed for missing out on Mbeumo
Now, on It’s Called Soccer Podcast, Walcott heaped praise on Mbeumo following his ‘incredible’ performance for Man Utd vs the Seagulls and also said that Arsenal should have signed him to bolster the frontline.
Walcott said:
“I think Mbeumo has been incredible and he’s a player Arsenal should have bought many years ago.”
Although Arsenal didn’t sign Mbeumo, valued at around £62m by Transfermarkt, this summer, they have been displaying impressive performances this season, sitting at the top of the table with 22 points from nine games in the Premier League.
As a result, they are currently the favourites to become English champions. On the other hand, they have won all three games in the Champions League.
Arsenal narrowly missed out on winning the Premier League title in the last three consecutive campaigns, and they now have a glorious opportunity to win the league after more than two decades, as Liverpool and Manchester City have been struggling.
Meanwhile, following the Carabao Cup assignment against Brighton and Hove Albion yesterday, Arsenal will face off against Burnley in the league next weekend.
