Arsenal will welcome Brighton and Hove Albion to the Emirates Stadium for their Carabao Cup fourth-round fixture tonight.

The Premier League clubs participating in European competitions automatically qualify for the third round of this tournament, and the Gunners advanced by defeating Port Vale in the previous round.

Brighton were unbeaten in the previous five games across all competitions before losing to Manchester United in the Premier League last weekend. Fabian Hurzeler’s side have reached this stage of this competition by defeating Oxford United and Barnsley 6-0 in the last two rounds.

Team news

Gabriel Jesus, Kai Havertz, Martin Odegaard, and Noni Madueke have been sidelined due to their respective injury problems and aren’t in contention to feature tonight.

Moreover, William Saliba and Gabriel Martinelli have picked up injuries and aren’t going to be involved in this fixture.

Predicted line-up

Arsenal have built a deep squad to challenge on all fronts this season, so Arteta is likely to make a few changes to his starting XI in this game from the weekend’s victory over Crystal Palace in the Premier League.

So, Kepa Arrizabalaga might get the nod to start between the sticks ahead of David Raya. Cristhian Mosquera is likely to be in the centre-back position alongside Piero Hincapié.

The Ecuadorian has struggled with fitness problems this season, but is available once again. So, Gabriel Magalhaes could get a breather in midweek.

Ben White has also had fitness issues this season; as a result, he hasn’t played regularly since starting against Manchester United in the opening Premier League game.

But he might start in the right-back position tonight, while Myles Lewis-Skelly should be on the opposite side for Arsenal. In that case, Jurrien Timber and Riccardo Calafiori would be among the substitutes.

Martin Zubimendi is likely to be in the deep-lying playmaker position, and Mikel Merino should be alongside the 26-year-old, with Ethan Nwaneri set to be in the creative midfield position. Therefore, Declan Rice and Eberechi Eze are expected to get a rest in this match.

Leandro Trossard could continue on the left flank amid Martinelli’s absence, while Bukayo Saka might be on the opposite side. Viktor Gyokeres is set to lead the line for the Gunners.
