Arsenal eye Real Madrid youngster Victor Valdepenas
Arsenal are said to be keeping tabs on Real Madrid defender Victor Valdepenas, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.
The club have shown strong intent in signing promising young players, and the teenager is the latest name on their radar.
The North London side have built a reputation for spotting and developing top young Spanish talents in recent years.
Cristhian Mosquera was the most recent Spanish player to join Arsenal, and now Valdepenas could follow the same path.
Romano suggests that the Gunners have been monitoring his progress for several months ahead of a potential swoop.
The 18-year-old is part of Real Madrid’s Castilla team, coached by former Liverpool and Real Madrid defender Alvaro Arbeloa.
He has also represented Spain at youth level, where he made five appearances for the Under-19 team.
His development in Madrid’s academy has caught the attention of several scouts across Europe, including Arsenal’s.
Youngster impresses with his versatility and composure
Valdepenas has shown maturity beyond his age this season. He has made three appearances in Spain’s third division and two starts in the UEFA Youth League.
The defender scored in Madrid’s 4–1 victory over Kairat Almaty during the group stage, further highlighting his growing potential.
Known for his left foot and ability to play across the backline, Valdepenas can operate as a centre-back or a left-back.
His versatility and understanding of defensive positioning make him a valuable option for modern football.
The young Spaniard is recognised for his strong physical presence, impressive stamina, and excellent reading of the game.
He is comfortable with the ball at his feet and stays composed under pressure.
His awareness and timing in one-on-one situations make him stand out among his peers.
Valdepenas is valued at around £436,000, according to Transfermarkt, but convincing him to leave Madrid could prove challenging.
Playing for one of the world’s biggest clubs remains a major attraction for any young player.
However, Arsenal believe they can provide a clearer pathway to first-team football.
If Arsenal succeed in their pursuit, Valdepenas would add depth and long-term potential to their defence, fitting perfectly into the club’s strategy of investing in youth.
