Predicted Arsenal line-up against Newcastle United
Arsenal will travel to St. James’ Park to face off against Newcastle United in the Premier League on Sunday afternoon.
The North London club have already found themselves five points behind the league leaders Liverpool, and dropping points in this fixture means allowing the Reds to extend their lead at the top.
Team news
The Gunners have suffered a significant number of injury problems during the first few weeks of this season. Ben White, Christian Norgaard, Bukayo Saka, and William Saliba were all sidelined with their respective problems; thankfully, they are fit and available.
Moreover, Martin Odegaard has been out with a shoulder problem over the last three games, but he could be available to feature this weekend after recovering from his issue.
However, Noni Madueke isn’t in contention to feature, having picked up a knee injury against Manchester City last weekend. On the other hand, Gabriel Jesus and Kai Havertz remain sidelined owing to their respective injuries.
Predicted line-up
Arteta made a few changes to the starting line-up for the Carabao Cup encounter versus Port Vale in midweek and gave several star players rest. But they are all set to be recalled this weekend.
David Raya should commence in goal, replacing Kepa Arrizabalaga. In front of the Spaniard, William Saliba and Gabriel Magalhaes would be the centre-back pairing, while Jurrien Timber and Riccardo Calafiori should be the two fullbacks. In that case, Ben White, Cristhian Mosquera, and Myles Lewis-Skelly would return to the bench.
Martin Zubimendi is set to be in the defensive midfield position, and Declan Rice would be alongside the former Real Sociedad star in the engine room for Arsenal. Eberechi Eze might get the nod to start in the CAM position.
So, Christian Norgaard and Ethan Nwaneri would have to make do with a place on the bench. Elsewhere, Odegaard could feature off the bench.
Bukayo Saka is likely to keep hold of his place in the right flank position, while Gabriel Martinelli might be on the opposite side. Therefore, Leandro Trossard would have to settle for a place on the bench.
Viktor Gyokeres is expected to lead the line for the North London club, and Mikel Merino could return to the bench, having started in the CF position vs Port Vale in midweek.
Expected Arsenal line-up vs Newcastle:
Raya; Timber, Saliba, Gabriel, Calafiori; Zubimendi, Rice, Eze; Saka, Gyokeres, Martinelli
