Predicted Arsenal line-up against Manchester City
Arsenal will welcome Manchester City to the Emirates Stadium in a Premier League encounter on Sunday afternoon.
The Gunners have accumulated nine points from four games in the Premier League and will be coming into this game off the back of a 2-0 victory over Athletic Club in the Champions League.
On the other hand, Man City started the season poorly, but following back-to-back victories over Manchester United and Napoli, they are currently full of confidence.
Team news
Ben White and Bukayo Saka have been sidelined with their respective injury problems, while Martin Odegaard missed out on the midweek Champions League encounter, having sustained a shoulder problem last weekend.
Mikel Arteta hasn’t ruled out any of the trio’s availability and says that it will become clear whether they can feature this weekend after Saturday’s training session. Viktor Gyokeres and Mikel Merino sustained head injuries in midweek; thankfully, the duo is fit and available for this important game.
William Saliba has been sidelined since picking up an ankle injury against Liverpool last month. He was on the bench against Athletic Club, so he should be ready to start this weekend.
Predicted line-up
David Raya is set to be in goal, while Saliba should make his return in the centre-back position. Cristhian Mosquera has done exceptionally well amid the Frenchman’s absence, but Arteta wouldn’t want to take any risk against Erling Haaland.
Gabriel Magalhaes is expected to continue at the back and should start alongside Saliba. Jurrien Timber and Riccardo Calafiori might be the fullbacks for the North London club.
Martin Zubimendi is likely to be in the deep-lying playmaker position with Declan Rice set to commence beside the Spaniard. If Odegaard can’t recover in time, Merino would be in the attacking midfield position. So, Ethan Nwaneri could feature off the bench.
Gabriel Martinelli may return to the starting line-up after putting his name on the scoresheet last time out. In that case, Eberechi Eze would have to make do with a place on the bench.
Gyokeres is set to lead the line for the hosts, while Madueke might commence on the right flank. If Saka manages to return, he is expected to be among the substitutes alongside Leandro Trossard.
Expected Arsenal line-up vs Man City:
Raya; Timber, Saliba, Gabriel, Calafiori; Zubimendi, Rice, Merino; Madueke, Gyokeres, Martinelli
