Arsenal could sign Real Madrid attacker Rodrygo Goes in January
Arsenal could reportedly be able to sign Real Madrid forward Rodrygo Goes in January, as per transfer journalist Graeme Bailey.
The Brazilian was an integral part of Los Blancos’ success in recent times; however, he struggled to find regular game time towards the end of last season. Following Xabi Alonso’s arrival as the new manager to replace Carlo Ancelotti, it was thought that things would improve.
The 24-year-old even started Real Madrid’s first game in the Club World Cup; however, he has struggled to find regular game time under Alonso as well.
As a result, he was heavily linked with a move away from the Estadio Santiago Bernabéu in the recently concluded transfer window. Arsenal and Manchester City were said to be his potential suitors, while Liverpool and Paris Saint-Germain were tentatively linked with a move for him as well.
Eventually, the forward decided to stay at Real Madrid. Now, on TBR Football, Bailey says that Kylian Mbappe and Vinicius Junior managed to persuade the forward to stay.
However, he wants to secure his place in the Brazilian national team for next summer’s World Cup, and he won’t be able to do that if he can’t play regularly.
Therefore, he is prepared to leave in January if his situation does not improve. Arsenal could manage to secure his service at the beginning of next year if he were to leave.
Rodrygo to Arsenal
The South American is valued at around £78m by Transfermarkt and has a contract until 2028 with Real Madrid. So, they won’t let him leave for cheap next year.
Rodrygo is comfortable playing on the left flank and is also efficient on the opposite side. Furthermore, he can provide cover centrally if needed.
Arsenal have reinforced the frontline by signing Eberechi Eze, Viktor Gyokeres, and Noni Madueke this summer. Although Eze is comfortable on the left flank, he is more suited to play centrally.
Therefore, the Gunners were said to be willing to buy a specialist left-winger alongside Eze. Rodrygo is a top-class player and has showcased his qualities at the top flight in recent years.
Therefore, he would be a great coup for Arsenal should they eventually manage to lure him to the Emirates Stadium in January.
