Arsenal reportedly launched a deadline-day bid to sign Leicester City youngster Louis Page, as per Football Insider journalist Pete O’Rourke.

The Gunners handled the recently concluded summer window in a well-planned way and finalised the bulk of the incoming business before the start of the season.

Following Kai Havertz’s knee injury, Mikel Arteta’s side decided to go for Eberechi Eze after the commencement of this term. The Crystal Palace star was heavily linked with a move to the Emirates Stadium for the majority of the window, but it seemed at one stage that he was moving to Tottenham Hotspur.

However, the Gunners eventually managed to snare the 27-year-old from right under the nose of Thomas Frank’s side. This was possible as he is a lifelong Arsenal fan, and he even made his debut against Liverpool on Sunday.

Moreover, following Jakub Kiwior’s departure, Arsenal have decided to sign Piero Hincapié from Bayer Leverkusen on deadline day. However, on X, O’Rourke has stated that Arteta’s side attempted to seal another deadline day deal by launching a formal proposal to sign Page from Leicester.

Alongside the North London club, Manchester United also tabled a formal proposal to sign the youngster; however, Leicester rejected both proposals.

After ranking through the Foxes’ youth system, the 17-year-old made his first-team debut in the EFL Cup encounter last month. Following that, he started back-to-back Championship matches against Charlton Athletic and Birmingham City, and he even registered an assist versus the latter.

Page is a creative midfielder by trait and possesses the potential to reach the top. Therefore, he would’ve been an excellent acquisition for the North London club with a view to the long-term future had they managed to secure his service.

Arsenal already have Martin Odegaard, Ethan Nwaneri, and Eberechi Eze for the attacking midfield position. So, they don’t need anyone for this position, and it would have been difficult for the youngster to find regular game time had he eventually joined.

Meanwhile, Arsenal have entered the international break following a disappointing defeat against Liverpool and will resume the season against Nottingham Forest in the Premier League in mid-September.
