Arsenal have been given a major lift after captain Martin Ødegaard was spotted travelling with the squad ahead of their clash against Liverpool.

The Norwegian playmaker sustained a shoulder injury in Arsenal’s emphatic 5-0 victory over Leeds United last weekend, leaving the pitch in the 38th minute of the contest.

His early withdrawal created doubt about his fitness for the trip to Anfield, raising questions about whether he would be available for selection.

Speaking before the match, Mikel Arteta admitted the situation was uncertain. In his pre-match press conference, the Arsenal boss said: “We do not know yet. He has not trained yet, and if he does, it will be tomorrow. He is doing everything he can, we are doing everything that we can to make him available, but we will have to wait and see tomorrow.”

Those concerns now appear to have eased after Ødegaard was seen amongst the travelling group that left for Merseyside on Saturday.

His presence provides a welcome boost to Arsenal, who will be keen to have their captain involved in such a crucial fixture.

Both sides unbeaten so far

The meeting at Anfield promises to be a significant test, with both teams entering the game boasting a 100 per cent record in the Premier League.

Arsenal and Liverpool have each made perfect starts to the campaign, and the clash is being billed as an early marker in the title race.

Arsenal have looked sharp across their opening matches, blending new signings with experienced figures in the squad.

Ødegaard’s leadership and creativity have been central to their attacking play, making his return vital for Arteta’s plans.

Liverpool, meanwhile, will see the contest as an opportunity to underline their own title credentials in front of a home crowd at Anfield.

Their attacking form has been strong, and they will look to maintain their momentum against a fellow contender.

Crucial boost for Arteta

For Arsenal, the availability of Ødegaard could prove decisive in a fixture that often demands composure and quality in midfield.

His vision and passing ability will be key to unlocking Liverpool’s press and providing service to the forward line.

The sight of the captain travelling with the squad comes after Bukayo Saka was ruled out after picking up a hamstring injury against Leeds United.

Kai Havertz is also missing for Arsenal due to a knee injury that required minor surgery. With Gabriel Jesus still working his way back from an ACL injury and Christian Norgaard also ruled out, the Gunners will be without at least four players for the trip to Anfield.
