Arsenal could seal late deal to sign Real Madrid’s Rodrygo
Arsenal could reportedly seal a late deal to sign Real Madrid forward Rodrygo Goes, as per GiveMeSport.
The Gunners finished second in the Premier League last campaign and were 10 points behind the champions, Liverpool. They drew 14 games and only Everton drew more than them.
Mikel Arteta’s side scored 69 goals, while the Reds netted 86. Manchester City even scored more than Mikel Arteta’s side. So, it was widely suggested that the North London club needed to upgrade the attacking department this summer to win the league or the Champions League.
They have signed Viktor Gyokeres from Sporting CP to reinforce the frontline, and he was the highest scorer in Europe over the last two seasons. On the other hand, Noni Madueke has been purchased to support Bukayo Saka, and Eberechi Eze has also joined.
Now, GiveMeSport report that Arsenal also want a new left-sided forward before the September 1st transfer deadline and remain keen on signing Rodrygo.
However, the South American is currently on a £350,000-a-week salary when the bonuses are triggered at the Estadio Santiago Bernabéu, and Los Blancos would want a significant transfer fee to let him leave.
Having already splashed around £270m this summer, Arsenal can’t afford to spend big to sign the Brazilian, so they are planning to sign him on a loan deal.
Rodrygo to Arsenal
Having struggled to play regularly for Real Madrid, Rodrygo is willing to leave as his ambition is to secure his place in the Brazil national team for next year’s World Cup.
However, signing the 24-year-old won’t be straightforward for the Emirates club as Liverpool are also plotting a swoop for him should they eventually fail to buy Alexander Isak.
Moreover, Manchester City are considering making a move for Rodrygo as a potential replacement for Savinho, who has been linked with a move to Tottenham Hotspur.
Gabriel Martinelli and Leandro Trossard have been the left-wingers for Arsenal over the years. However, the Brazilian has struggled to showcase his qualities in recent years.
Therefore, upgrading this position would be the right decision before the deadline, and Rodrygo would be a great coup should Arsenal eventually manage to secure his service.
