Arsenal set for Eze medical ahead of £67.5m deal
Crystal Palace midfielder Eberechi Eze is expected to undergo his medical at Arsenal this morning, according to reports from Standard Sport.
This move would mark the Gunners’ third attacking signing of the summer, following the arrivals of Noni Madueke and Viktor Gyökeres.
The London side has acted quickly after Kai Havertz sustained an injury, shifting their attention to Eze.
The midfielder had been linked with Tottenham Hotspur, but Arsenal hijacked the move to secure his signature.
A deal between Arsenal and Crystal Palace has reportedly been agreed. The Gunners will pay £60 million upfront, with an additional £7.5 million in add-ons.
Eze is reportedly undergoing his medical this morning ahead of his dream move to the Emirates Stadium.
Debut against Leeds unlikely
Despite the progress, Eze is not expected to feature in Arsenal’s upcoming match against Leeds United on Saturday. The club hopes to finalise all formalities by the weekend.
Eze has supported Arsenal since childhood and views this move as a chance to reach a higher level and challenge for trophies.
The Crystal Palace star scored 14 goals and provided 11 assists last season, playing a key role in their historic FA Cup triumph.
Arsenal have kept tabs on Eze throughout the summer, having shown strong interest in him earlier in the transfer window.
Eze will join Mikel Arteta’s squad with the aim of helping the Gunners push for silverware.
Arsenal have gone three seasons without lifting a major trophy and are under pressure to deliver this term.
The team has finished runners-up in the Premier League for three straight years, narrowly missing out on the title on each occasion.
This new signing is seen as another major step towards ending that wait for success.
The 27-year-old has been one of Crystal Palace’s standout performers in recent seasons, impressing with his creativity and technical ability.
Arsenal believe his qualities will add depth and attacking threat to their midfield.
If the transfer goes through as planned, Eze will become a key figure in Arsenal’s pursuit of domestic and European honours this season.
