Arsenal explore move for Lookman after talks

Arsenal have entered discussions with Atalanta forward Ademola Lookman as they weigh up options to add more firepower to their attack, reports TBR Football.

The Gunners have already confirmed the arrivals of Noni Madueke and Viktor Gyökeres this summer.

They are also close to completing the signing of Eberechi Eze from Crystal Palace.

However, it appears Mikel Arteta might not be done as TBR Football indicate that Arsenal have held talks with Lookman’s representatives in recent days.

This move suggests the club could target further reinforcements for the left side of their attack.

Lookman a key figure at Atalanta

The 27-year-old winger has been outstanding for Atalanta since his switch from RB Leipzig in 2022.

The Nigerian international’s became a vital part of Gian Piero Gasperini’s team and delivered on the biggest stage last season.

Lookman was the star of the UEFA Europa League Final, scoring a stunning hat-trick against Bayer Leverkusen.

His heroics secured Atalanta’s first European title and cemented his place in the club’s history.

Across all competitions, the former Leicester City man produced 20 goals and seven assists last term.

That form has established him among the most consistent wingers in Europe.

Reports claim Atalanta value Lookman at £43 million, a fee reflecting his importance and his proven ability to perform at the highest level.

Interest from other Premier League clubs

The Nigerian star was keen on joining Inter Milan earlier in the transfer window.

However, that move collapsed after the Serie A giants talks with Atalanta was completely frozen.

Now, Arsenal face competition from fellow Premier League clubs.

Manchester City, Tottenham Hotspur and Aston Villa are also said to have held conversations with Lookman’s camp.

The winger, who still has years left on his contract in Bergamo, is considering his next move carefully.

After back-to-back standout seasons in Italy, he is keen on a new challenge that offers both ambition and trophies.

For Arsenal, securing Lookman would be a statement of intent.

Adding his pace, creativity and eye for goal could give Mikel Arteta another attacking option as the club aims to end its long wait for a major title.
