Arsenal have reportedly held fresh talks over a deal to sign Real Madrid forward Rodrygo Goes, as per transfer journalist Graeme Bailey.

After finishing second in the last three consecutive Premier League campaigns, the Gunners have purchased Kepa Arrizabalaga, Martin Zubimendi, Christian Norgaard, Noni Madueke, Cristhian Mosquera, and Viktor Gyokeres by spending around £200m to strengthen the squad this summer.

However, it has widely been suggested that Mikel Arteta wants a new left-winger as well before the end of this transfer window. Gabriel Martinelli and Leandro Trossard are the options for this position, while Madueke can also provide cover if needed.

However, Martinelli has been inconsistent in recent years and displayed a below-average performance in the opening Premier League game against Manchester United on Sunday.

Now, on TBR Football, Bailey says that Arsenal remain keen on Rodrygo and have held fresh talks to sign him last weekend. The Gunners are even ready to make a ‘push’ to secure his service, but they need to make room for his arrival.

Reiss Nelson, Oleksandr Zinchenko, Fabio Vieira, and Albert Sambi Lokonga are all on the chopping block, while Trossard could also leave before the deadline.

Rodrygo to Arsenal

However, Arsenal only want to sign the Real Madrid star on a loan deal. Manchester City are also interested in signing Rodrygo as a potential replacement for Savinho, who has been heavily linked with a move to Tottenham.

Rodrygo’s future has been a subject of speculation in this transfer window, as he struggled to find regular game time for Real Madrid towards the end of the last campaign.

He is a versatile forward as he is comfortable on either flank and can also provide cover centrally if needed. The South American has showcased his qualities for Los Blancos in recent years and is still just 24. Therefore, he is yet to reach his prime.

Real Madrid have slapped a whopping £78m price tag on his head, with his existing deal set to run until 2028. Therefore, it remains to be seen whether the Spanish giants eventually agree to let the forward leave on a loan deal.

Following Franco Mastantuano’s arrival, competition for places in the attack has increased even more at Los Blancos. Therefore, finding regular game time could be even more difficult for Rodrygo at the Estadio Santiago Bernabéu should he opt to stay.
