Arsenal eye Palmeiras defender Luis Benedetti
Arsenal are exploring the possibility of signing Palmeiras youngster Luis Benedetti, according to reports coming from Diego Firmino.
The Gunners have already completed the signing of Cristhian Mosquera from Valencia. The Spanish defender was brought in to strengthen central defence.
Despite this, Arsenal are still keeping the market open and could make further moves before the summer transfer window shuts.
Reports suggest Jakub Kiwior may be sold if an offer arrives that matches the club’s valuation. That would leave room for another defensive option.
Benedetti is said to be one of the names under serious consideration. Arsenal have tracked his progress since he broke into the Palmeiras squad.
The 19-year-old defender has started to gain attention in South America after making his professional debut earlier this year.
Palmeiras starlet drawing growing interest
Benedetti has featured nine times for Palmeiras so far. However, his playing minutes have been limited because of strong competition for places in defence.
His performances have still caught the eye of European scouts. Arsenal are among those monitoring his development closely.
Palmeiras value the teenager at around £9 million, as per the report. Sources in Brazil claim Arsenal could table an official offer in the coming days.
The young defender is left-footed and comfortable operating in central positions.
His playing style is described as being focused mainly on defensive strength and composure at the back.
At 6ft 6in tall, his height gives him a natural advantage in aerial duels. That has already made him stand out as a player with significant potential.
Palmeiras see him as a valuable talent but could be willing to sell for the right price. That opens the door for Arsenal to push ahead with talks.
Arsenal’s recruitment team are still active as the deadline approaches. Adding a promising talent like Benedetti would provide both depth and long-term investment in defence.
The coming weeks could be decisive as Arsenal weigh up their final moves in the market.
