Arsenal face Tottenham threat in Eze chase

By on August 15, 2025

Arsenal’s pursuit of Crystal Palace star Eberechi Eze is facing a huge setback.

Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly preparing an offer for the England international, according to journalist Ben Jacobs.

The Gunners have maintained an interest in Eze for some time and had been tipped to sign him later in the window.

However, their current focus appears to be on securing departures before making a formal move for the England international.

Tottenham prepare offer for England star

This delay has opened the door to Spurs as reports suggest Tottenham are moving closer to making a formal approach for Eze.

The player is said to be open to a transfer, with Champions League football believed to be a major attraction.

Eze is currently valued at a similar price to the £55 million paid for Mohammed Kudus.

Spurs are reportedly unwilling to trigger his £68 million release clause, preferring negotiations around their own valuation.

The 27-year-old previously had a spell in Arsenal’s academy during his youth.

This adds an extra layer of intrigue to the transfer battle between the two North London rivals.

Eze’s style and recent success

Eze is widely admired for his flair, skill on the ball, and ability to create attacking opportunities.

His dribbling style is unpredictable, using quick changes of direction to beat defenders in tight spaces. Often referred to as a “drunken dribbler” due to his deceptive body movement, he is effective at unlocking stubborn defences.

Eze also carries a goal threat, particularly from the edge of the penalty area. His vision allows him to find teammates in dangerous positions, making him a constant creative outlet.

Last season, he scored 14 goals and provided 11 assists across all competitions for Palace. Eze played a key role in Oliver Glasner’s side, helping them win the 2024/25 FA Cup.

He also featured prominently in their victory in the 2025 Community Shield.

With Tottenham preparing a move and Arsenal still interested, the race for Eze could intensify in the coming weeks.

Mikel Arteta’s side may need to act quickly if they want to secure his signature before the window closes.
