Arsenal ready to submit formal proposal to sign Lookman

By on August 12, 2025

Arsenal are reportedly prepared to launch a formal proposal to sign Atalanta forward Ademola Lookman, as per a recent Italian report.

After joining Everton from Charlton Athletic, the Nigerian struggled to find regular game time at Goodison Park. So, he went out on loan to RB Leipzig before signing for the German side permanently back in 2019.

However, the forward struggled to showcase his qualities in the Bundesliga, so he joined Fulham and Leicester City on loan in two consecutive seasons but failed to impress.

La Dea eventually decided to sign him permanently back in 2022, and he has flourished in his career under Gian Piero Gasperini’s guidance. He is considered one of the best forwards in Serie A at the moment.

However, the player is keen on leaving La Dea to take the next step in his career. Inter Milan are reportedly keen on purchasing him but have been struggling to agree on a deal in principle with Atalanta.

Now, as per a recent Italian report (via Football London), Arsenal are ready to launch a formal proposal worth around £44m to lure the African to the Emirates Stadium.

Lookman to Arsenal

However, the player is prioritising a move to the Nerazzurri, so he is expected to reject any offer from the north London club. Therefore, Mikel Arteta’s side will have to find a way to persuade him to join if they want to bring him.

Lookman is comfortable playing as a second striker and in the attacking midfielder role. Furthermore, he can provide cover on the left flank.

Arsenal are keen on signing a new left-winger before the end of this transfer window and have been linked with Anthony Gordon, Rodrygo Goes, and Eberechi Eze, alongside the Nigerian international.

However, Man City are also interested in the Brazilian, while it would be extremely difficult to lure Gordon away from St James’ Park. Eze is seemingly a key target, and Arsenal have been in talks to sign him.

Therefore, it is going to be interesting to see who the North London club eventually purchase to reinforce the frontline before the end of this transfer window.

Meanwhile, Arsenal have already purchased six new faces by spending £200m this summer to reinforce the squad and help Arteta finally win the Premier League title.
