Arsenal prioritising signing Crystal Palace star Eze
Arsenal are reportedly prioritising signing Crystal Palace forward Eberechi Eze, as per Football London.
The Gunners have already finalised the bulk of their transfer business this summer. They have purchased Kepa Arrizabalaga, Martin Zubimendi, Christian Norgaard, Noni Madueke, Cristhian Mosquera, and Viktor Gyokeres by spending around £200m.
Now, the North London club are reportedly planning to reinforce the left flank before the end of this transfer window. Football London report that Arsenal are prioritising signing Eze and are hopeful to secure his service.
However, Mikel Arteta’s side are planning to focus on outgoings first, having already splashed around £200m. Reiss Nelson, Oleksandr Zinchenko, Fabio Vieira, Albert Sambi Lokonga, Jakub Kiwior, and Leandro Trossard have all been linked with a move away.
Crystal Palace boss Oliver Glasner has mentioned that Eze is going to feature in the Community Shield against Liverpool on Sunday. So, this clearly shows that Arsenal aren’t close to securing his service yet.
Eze’s existing deal with the South London club will run until 2027, and the Englishman has a £68m release clause. The clause is set to expire on 15th August.
Eze to Arsenal
Eze has been dominating the transfer headlines of Arsenal in recent days, and alongside him, Rodrygo Goes, Anthony Gordon, and Ademola Lookman have been tentatively linked with a move to the Emirates Stadium.
It has even been reported that Arsenal could go for a new CAM alongside an LW before the end of this window, with Eze being viewed as an option for the creative midfield position.
The North London club already have Martin Zubimendi, Christian Norgaard, Declan Rice, Mikel Merino, and Martin Odegaard for the midfield position, while Ethan Nwaneri is also an option.
Therefore, Arsenal don’t really need a new midfielder, but Eze is capable of playing on the left as well as in the CAM role. So, he would be an excellent option to provide cover in both areas.
It is going to be interesting to see whether the Emirates club eventually manage to sign the Crystal Palace star before the end of this transfer window.
Meanwhile, following a disappointing 3-2 defeat against Villarreal in a pre-season game, Arsenal will face off against Athletic Club in the last friendly game today before next weekend’s opening Premier League encounter against Manchester United.
