Arsenal can sign Rodrygo in sensational swap deal
Arsenal can reportedly sign Real Madrid forward Rodrygo Goes in a sensational swap deal, as per Spanish outlet Defensa Central.
The Brazilian was a key player in Carlo Ancelotti’s starting XI over the years, winning several La Liga titles, two Champions League trophies, and a few major cup competitions.
However, following Kylian Mbappe’s arrival last summer, the South American has lost his prominence. He even found himself out of favour at the end of last term. His situation didn’t change under new manager Xabi Alonso in the Club World Cup.
Therefore, his future has become uncertain at the Estadio Santiago Bernabéu, and he has been heavily linked with a move away. It has been reported that Arsenal are interested in him, but purchasing him would be difficult, having already splashed around £200m this summer.
Los Blancos have slapped a whopping £78m price tag on his head, with his existing deal set to run until 2028. Liverpool have also been linked with a move for him after letting Luis Diaz leave.
Now, Defensa Central report that Real Madrid are interested in reinforcing the centre-back position and William Saliba is their priority target.
Therefore, they are ready to offer Rodrygo to Arsenal in a part-exchange deal to sign the Frenchman. However, Mikel Arteta has no intention of selling the 24-year-old, and he is even ready to stay at the Emirates Stadium next season.
Rodrygo to Arsenal
Having participated in the Club World Cup, Real Madrid have recently returned to pre-season with the new campaign less than two weeks away. Rodrygo has also reported for the training.
Arsenal want a new left winger and have been linked with Anthony Gordon and Eberechi Eze alongside the South American. It has even been reported that they have been working on a deal to sign Eze from Crystal Palace.
However, it appears they might be handed an opportunity to sign Rodrygo. Although the Brazilian is a highly talented player and would be a great coup for Arsenal, they wouldn’t want to buy him at the expense of Saliba, who has been a talismanic figure at the back in recent years. It remains to be seen who Arsenal eventually sign to reinforce the left side of the attack.
