Arsenal eye move to sign Real Madrid star Brahim Diaz
Arsenal are reportedly planning to make a move to sign Real Madrid forward Brahim Diaz, as per a recent report.
After joining Real Madrid from Manchester City back in 2019, the Moroccan initially struggled to find regular game time at the Estadio Santiago Bernabéu.
Therefore, he joined AC Milan on a loan deal and spent three years at San Siro Stadium, winning the Scudetto title. Since returning a couple of years ago, he has been playing as a rotational option.
Now, as per a recent report (via Football London), Xabi Alonso has told the 25-year-old that he might have to settle for a second-fiddle option next season. So, speculation surrounding his future has been emerging in this window.
Arsenal are interested in him and have been keeping a close eye on his situation before making a potential swoop. Apart from the Gunners, AC Milan are willing to bring him back.
Saudi Arabian clubs are also interested in him and are ready to spend around £35m to secure his service with his existing deal set to expire in 2027. The report also claim that Diaz has verbally agreed to extend his deal with Real Madrid but hasn’t signed it yet.
Diaz to Arsenal
Díaz is a two-footed, versatile forward. He is comfortable playing on either flank and in the CAM role. Although he didn’t play regularly last term, he still made 13 goal contributions across all competitions.
Diaz, valued at around £35m by Transfermarkt, was at Man City when Mikel Arteta was Pep Guardiola’s assistant. Therefore, the Gunners’ boss already knows about him very well and might be able to bring the best out of him.
Arsenal reportedly want a new CAM to create competition for Martin Odegaard. Eberechi Eze and Morgan Rogers have been suggested as potential targets, but Diaz is seemingly on their radar as well.
The African is an energetic player, but he may not be a significant upgrade for Arsenal. Therefore, they would be better off going for Eze to reinforce the No.10 position.
It is going to be interesting to see whether the North London club eventually make a concrete approach to secure Diaz’s service in this transfer window.
