Arsenal continue to monitor Rosario Central’s Juan Gimenez

By on August 1, 2025

Arsenal are still keeping tabs on Juan Gimenez ahead of a potential move for the talented defender, as reported by Florian Plettenberg.

The Rosario Central centre-back has drawn interest from a number of European clubs, with Arsenal among those following his progress closely.

The Gunners have built a reputation for signing young talents from South America and developing them into top players. Gabriel Martinelli is one notable success from this approach.

Gimenez, who plays for Argentine side Rosario Central, is regarded as one of the best defensive prospects in South America.

Despite being only 19, he has already established himself as a regular starter. He has made 24 appearances for the Argentine club so far.

Arsenal have been following the progress of the Argentina Under-20 international for some time now.

Dortmund lead race for young talent

While Arsenal continue to observe him, they are not alone in the race for his signature.

Borussia Dortmund are also interested and have included the defender in their list of summer targets.

According to the report, the German side have already moved forward in talks with the player’s representatives.

Transfermarkt currently values Gimenez at around £2.6 million but it remains to be seen how much it would take to get a deal agreed.

The Argentine defender has impressed with his strong performances and maturity on the pitch.

Dortmund are known for recruiting and developing young players, and Gimenez fits the type of profile they usually target.

If Arsenal wish to secure his services, they may need to act quickly before the Bundesliga club reach an agreement.

Gimenez fits the mould of the modern centre-back. He is comfortable on the right in a back two and can also play in a back three.

However, with Arsenal already signing Cristhian Mosquera from Valencia, the club may not be fully ready to push hard for Gimenez at this stage.

It remains to be seen whether Arsenal will make a formal approach or simply continue to watch how the situation unfolds.

Gimenez’s performances at Rosario Central have made him one of the most sought-after defenders in South America at the moment.

With both Arsenal and Dortmund keen, his next move could come sooner than expected.
