Arsenal offered chance to sign Arda Guler & Raul Asencio
Arsenal have reportedly been offered the chance to sign Arda Guler and Raul Asencio, as per Spanish outlet Fichajes.
The Gunners initially purchased William Saliba from Saint-Etienne back in 2019, but he had to wait three years before making his debut for the North London club. During this time, he went out on loan on three different occasions.
Since making his debut, the 24-year-old has established himself as an undisputed starter in Mikel Arteta’s starting XI and is considered one of the best defenders in the world.
Now, Fichajes state that the Frenchman’s promising performances in the Premier League have attracted Real Madrid’s attention, and they are keen on securing his service.
They have submitted a formal proposal worth around £78m in fixed fee, plus Guler and Asencio, who is valued at around £35m, in a part-exchange deal to seal the deal.
Los Blancos are willing to let Guler join Arsenal on a loan deal, allowing him to play regularly and develop his career after struggling to find consistent game time last term.
The report claim that although Saliba is an important player, Arsenal are ‘seriously considering’ accepting the offer and letting him join Real Madrid in this window.
Guler & Asencio to Arsenal
It has come as a surprise that Arsenal are contemplating accepting Real Madrid’s proposal and letting Saliba leave, as without him, their chance of challenging on all fronts will decrease massively next term, even though they have purchased Cristhian Mosquera.
Guler, valued at around £39m by Transfermarkt, is a talented player and possesses high potential. Therefore, he might be a very good addition to Arteta’s squad, especially given they want a new attacking midfielder to support Martin Odegaard, but signing him on loan makes no sense.
On the other hand, Asencio burst onto the scene having displayed impressive performances last term, but was in very poor form in the Club World Cup. So, he is nowhere near the level of Saliba.
Therefore, Arsenal would be better off keeping Saliba at the club by tying him down to a fresh term, with his existing deal set to run until 2027. However, keeping hold of a player is always difficult when Real Madrid knock on his door.
