Arsenal ‘like’ Leicester City star Bilal El Khannouss

By on July 30, 2025

Arsenal reportedly ‘like’ Leicester City star Bilal El Khannouss, as per transfer journalist Graeme Bailey.

The Gunners have already splashed big money in this transfer window, purchasing Kepa Arrizabalaga, Martin Zubimendi, Christian Norgaard, Noni Madueke, Cristhian Mosquera, and Viktor Gyokeres.

However, they don’t want to halt their summer business just yet, as they want a new versatile attacking midfielder. Crystal Palace star Eberechi Eze has been heavily linked with a move to the Emirates Stadium, and the North London club have been in talks with the player’s representatives over this deal.

But the player has a £68m release clause, and Arsenal might not be able to afford him, having already spent around £200m. So, it appears they also have cheaper alternative options in case they eventually fail to secure Eze’s service.

On TBR Football, Bailey says that Arsenal like El Khannouss and could make a concrete approach to secure his service. Following Leicester’s relegation, the player is set to leave in this window.

However, Arsenal aren’t the only club interested in the Moroccan, as Tottenham Hotspur and Newcastle United are also keen on purchasing him. Moreover, Crystal Palace, Sunderland, Leeds United, and West Ham are lining up a potential swoop.

El Khannouss to Arsenal

Considering Arsenal are looking to buy Eze, perhaps, Crystal Palace want El Khannouss to replace the 27-year-old should he eventually leave over the coming weeks.

After joining Leicester last term, El Khannouss still has three years left in his current contract. Therefore, the Foxes are in a strong position not to let him leave for cheap, and he is valued at around £24m by Transfermarkt.

El Khannouss is a technically sound attacking midfielder and is a talented player. However, he isn’t a finished article yet and needs time to develop his career.

Having already got Ethan Nwaneri, Arsenal don’t have to go for another young CAM to support Martin Zubimendi. Instead, they would be better off going for an experienced Premier League-proven player like Eze to bolster the squad.

Nevertheless, it is going to be interesting to see whether the North London club eventually make a concrete approach to secure El Khannouss’ service this summer.
