Arsenal handed boost in pursuit of Eberechi Eze
Arsenal have been given fresh hope in their bid to sign Eberechi Eze, with Crystal Palace already planning for life without their star player.
Reports from journalist Sacha Tavolieri claim the Eagles have identified Leicester City’s Bilal El Khannouss as a potential replacement for Eze.
Palace are reportedly aware that Eze could leave this summer, and are now exploring other options to strengthen their squad in advance.
The 27-year-old is admired by Arsenal, who see him as someone capable of playing in multiple positions across midfield and attack.
Arsenal are keen to bolster their creative options, and believe Eze would offer versatility, flair, and proven Premier League experience.
He played a key role for Palace last season under Oliver Glasner, finishing the campaign with 14 goals and 11 assists across all competitions.
Leicester’s El Khannouss lined up by Palace
Bilal El Khannouss is reportedly on Crystal Palace’s radar as a possible signing if Eze departs in this transfer window.
The 21-year-old Moroccan joined Leicester from Belgian side Genk in the summer of 2024 for a reported fee of £21 million.
In his debut season with the Foxes, El Khannouss registered three goals and five assists in all competitions.
Despite Leicester’s relegation, the young midfielder showed promise and was one of the few positives in their disappointing campaign.
His performances have now caught the attention of Crystal Palace, who may see him as a long-term option to replace Eze.
Eze has a release clause in his contract worth £60 million, though this figure could rise to £68 million with certain bonus clauses.
Palace’s proactive search for a replacement indicates they are expecting interest in Eze to intensify in the coming weeks.
This development will encourage Arsenal fans, as the Gunners are widely seen as the most likely destination for the England international.
Arsenal are expected to push forward with talks soon, especially now that Palace have shown signs of planning for his departure.
With pre-season well underway, Arsenal may look to complete the deal early to allow the player time to settle in ahead of the new campaign.
