Mosquera travels to join Arsenal’s pre-season squad

By on July 22, 2025

Cristhian Mosquera is currently travelling from London to Singapore to link-up with the Arsenal squad for their pre-season tour across Asia.

The 21-year-old defender, who has been close to sealing a move from Valencia, did not travel with the team when they flew out on Saturday.

His transfer was still being finalised over the weekend, which meant he had to stay back in London to complete the necessary details.

However, the deal has now progressed well enough for the player to receive permission to fly out and join his new team-mates in Singapore.

Mosquera was spotted at Heathrow Airport on Tuesday morning, boarding a flight to Singapore to link up with the Gunners squad as Arsenal prepare to finally announce his arrival.

The latest update was also supported by reports from The Athletic, confirming that he is expected to arrive ahead of their next friendly fixture.

Fabrizio Romano says Arsenal will pay Valencia £13m plus add-ons for Mosquera with the defender set to sign a long-term contract at the Emirates Stadium.

Gunners prepare for AC Milan

Arsenal are set to face Italian giants AC Milan at the Singapore National Stadium on Wednesday in the second leg of their Asian tour.

Four days later, they will take on Premier League rivals Newcastle United at the same venue before heading to Hong Kong.

Their tour of the Far East will conclude with a north London derby clash against Tottenham Hotspur in Hong Kong on 31 July.

Mosquera’s addition comes at a time when Arsenal are keen to strengthen their defensive depth before the new season begins.

He is expected to provide strong competition and cover for William Saliba and Gabriel Magalhães, who were regular starters last season.

Saliba made 51 appearances across all competitions, while Gabriel featured in 42 matches during the 2024/25 campaign.

Mikel Arteta’s team have been active in the transfer market, with several players already joining the squad this summer.

They have brought in Martin Zubimendi from Real Sociedad and Christian Nørgaard from Brentford to reinforce their midfield.

Chelsea duo Kepa Arrizabalaga and Noni Madueke have also completed moves to the Emirates to boost the squad.

Arsenal are also in advanced talks to sign Sporting CP to sign Viktor Gyökeres in a deal that could be worth up to £63 million.

With the squad shaping up well, the arrival of Mosquera will add extra steel and competition to a team aiming to challenge again.
