Arsenal step up efforts to sign Crystal Palace star Eze
Arsenal are reportedly ‘accelerating’ their efforts to sign Crystal Palace ace Eberechi Eze, as per Football Insider.
Mikel Arteta has travelled with his squad to Singapore for the pre-season tour and has brought in Kepa Arrizabalaga, Martin Zubimendi, Christian Norgaard, and Noni Madueke as the new acquisitions.
Moreover, Cristhian Mosquera is expected to join from Valencia to support William Saliba. It has widely been suggested that the Gunners need a prolific goalscorer to finally win the Premier League title.
Benjamin Sesko and Viktor Gyokeres were the primary targets to bolster the No.9 position, but the North London club opted to go for the Swedish international. Initially, they struggled to agree on a deal with Sporting CP, even though the player has always prioritised moving to the Emirates Stadium.
Following hard-fought negotiations, they have finally managed to agree on this deal. Furthermore, Arsenal want a new left winger.
Football Insider state that despite already signing Gyokeres and Madueke, Arteta’s side still have enough financial resources to buy a new attacker, with the Spanish boss desperate to revamp the frontline.
They have identified Eze as a serious option and are ‘accelerating’ their efforts to seal the deal. The 27-year-old’s current contract will run until 2027, and he has a £68m release clause.
Eze to Arsenal
Arsenal finished second in the last three consecutive Premier League campaigns, and pressure will be high on Arteta to guide the Emirates club to win the league or the Champions League next season.
Eze is a versatile forward as he can play on the left flank and in the CAM role. The Crystal Palace star is a Premier League-proven player and helped his side win the FA Cup by defeating Manchester City in the final last term. This is the South London club’s first major trophy ever.
The forward has showcased his productivity in the last two consecutive seasons, making 26 goal contributions in all competitions last campaign. He is an experienced player and could be a great coup for Arsenal should they purchase him.
However, it is going to be interesting to see whether the Gunners eventually manage to secure his service before the end of this transfer window.
