Arsenal showing ‘concrete’ interest in Rodrygo Goes
Arsenal are reportedly showing a ‘concrete’ interest in signing Real Madrid forward Rodrygo Goes, as per Football London.
The Gunners aim to finalise most of their new signings before departing for their pre-season tour in Singapore on 19th July, allowing Mikel Arteta to work with the new players and prepare them properly for the upcoming season.
Martin Zubimendi, Christian Norgaard, and Kepa Arrizabalaga have already been purchased, while Noni Madueke and Cristhian Mosquera are closing in on a move to the Emirates Stadium.
Moreover, the North London club are on the verge of signing Viktor Gyokeres to reinforce the centre-forward position after finding a breakthrough in negotiations with Sporting CP.
Now, Football London report that Arsenal are also considering upgrading the left flank following Gabriel Martinelli and Leandro Trossard’s inconsistent performances last term.
Arteta’s side are showing a ‘concrete’ interest in Rodrygo and could make a formal approach to secure his service. However, Arsenal are also interested in Eze and may decide to go for him due to his versatility, instead.
Rodrygo to Arsenal
David Ornstein previously reported that the Gunners see Eze as an option for the CAM or box-to-box role, while they could go for a new left winger even if they purchase the Crystal Palace star.
Rodrygo has struggled to find regular game time at Real Madrid and is expected to leave this summer. It has been reported that Los Blancos would be open to letting him go for a fee of around £78m.
The 24-year-old is a left winger by trait but is also comfortable on the opposite side and can even play centrally if needed. He is technically sound, can dribble past opposition defenders in tight areas, is efficient in taking set pieces, and can also create opportunities for fellow attackers.
Despite his recent struggles at Real Madrid, Rodrygo is a highly talented player, and his issues at the Spanish capital aren’t due to his qualities but because of fierce competition.
Therefore, he would be a great coup for Arsenal should they eventually manage to lure him to the Emirates Stadium before the end of this transfer window.
