Arsenal interested in signing Forest’s Morgan Gibbs-White
Arsenal are reportedly interested in signing Nottingham Forest star Morgan Gibbs-White, as per The Athletic.
After moving to City Ground from Wolverhampton Wanderers back in 2022, the 25-year-old has established himself as a talismanic figure. He enjoyed a productive 2023/24 campaign, making 15 goal contributions in the Premier League.
The Englishman replicated a similar productivity last term, scoring seven goals and registering eight assists in 34 Premier League appearances. Moreover, he helped his side qualify for European football.
Gibbs-White’s recent eye-catching displays haven’t gone unnoticed as Tottenham Hotspur previously registered their interest. Additionally, Manchester City were also eyeing a move for him to replace Kevin de Bruyne but a deal eventually didn’t come to fruition and they purchased Rayan Chekri from Olympique Lyonnais.
After impressing in the English top flight, the Forest star has secured his place in the English national team but features as a rotational option.
Now, The Athletic report that Arsenal are planning to add depth to their attacking midfield position and want to sign a Premier League proven player. So, they have earmarked Gibbs-White as a serious option and could make a concrete approach over the coming times.
Gibbs-White to Arsenal
Gibbs-White is valued at around £43m by Transfermarkt and has entered the final two years of his current contract. Therefore, Forest would be able to make the most profit out of his departure should they cash-in on him this summer unless he signs an extension.
However, having recently qualified for Europe, Nuno Espirito Santo’s side wouldn’t want to weaken their squad massively. They are in advanced talks to sell Anthony Elanga, therefore, the Reds would be desperate to keep hold of Gibbs-White.
Arsenal currently have Martin Odegaard and Ethan Nwaneri as options to deploy in the CAM role. However, Mikel Arteta’s side have been struggling to agree on a fresh term with the youngster with his current deal set to expire next year.
The Gunners have already been working on a deal to sign Eberechi Eze and the Englishman is efficient in the No.10 position as well as on the left flank. So, perhaps, Gibbs-White is the alternative option Arteta’s side are lining up should they eventually fail to sign the Crystal Palace star.
