Arsenal eye summer move for Maghnes Akliouche
Arsenal are reportedly interested in signing Monaco midfielder Maghnes Akliouche this summer, according to L’Equipe.
The 23-year-old, who can play in several attacking roles, had a standout 2024/25 campaign in Ligue 1 and Europe.
Akliouche scored seven goals and registered 12 assists in all competitions for Monaco last season.
Monaco are open to letting him leave but want a fee in the region of £60 million, as per the report.
The club have already made it clear they will not accept a low offer.
The Frenchman, who plays for the Under-21 national side, is yet to make his senior debut for France.
He is, however, highly rated in his country. Akliouche was part of the France Olympic team and featured regularly during the 2024 Games in Paris.
Akliouche fits Arteta’s system
The Monaco midfielder offers a mix of creativity and tactical flexibility.
He can play on either wing, as a No.10 or in a deeper attacking role.
This versatility could make him a great fit in Mikel Arteta’s system at Arsenal, which depends on movement and fluidity across the front line.
With Bukayo Saka often overused and Gabriel Martinelli struggling for consistency, Akliouche could provide much-needed depth.
He made 43 appearances for Monaco last season across all competitions and has become a regular in the team over the last two years.
His final third contributions and ability to beat defenders make him a dangerous option in tight games.
Akliouche is not short of suitors.
Manchester United, Manchester City, Tottenham, and Nottingham Forest are all keeping an eye on him, as per the report.
Arsenal face strong competition but remain firmly in the race to sign the young French playmaker.
He is valued highly by Monaco, who are in a strong position to demand a top fee following his performances last season.
At 23, Akliouche has time on his side and could develop even further in the Premier League under the right manager.
If Arsenal decide to make a move, they will need to act quickly before rival clubs make a formal approach.
