Arsenal Looking to Sign Top Tier Players Amidst Competition

It’s the season break, and everyone with Arsenal tickets is only glued to one thing – incoming transfers.
Mikel Arteta’s side came close three years in a row but still failed to overcome the final hurdle.
Now, the focus is on who will join the club this season to complete their mission to get themselves much-awaited silverware.
Here’s the latest from the Arsenal transfers:
Arsenal Eyeing Youri Tielemans
One of the biggest hyped-up transfers fans with Arsenal tickets are looking at after Declan Rice is that of Youri Tielemans. Now, Arsenal want to take it over the edge and bring that vital midfield combination.
Arsenal have been linked with now Aston Villa midfielder Youri Tielemans for some time, with the Belgian impressing since making the move to the Premier League in 2019. The 28-year-old was a key player for Leicester City, scoring the winning goal in the FA Cup final in 2021.
He left the club on a free transfer in 2023 following their relegation and joined Aston Villa on a free transfer.
After a first season establishing himself at the club, Tielemans kicked on in the 2024/25 campaign, re-finding the form that first saw him linked with Arsenal. The season saw him play 53 games in all competition, scoring five goals and providing 10 assists from midfield.
He will, however, have just one year remaining on his deal at Villa Park at the end of the month. And Villa’s final day loss against Manchester United saw them miss out on Champions League football next season.
It means that the club may have to sell one or two players this summer to be able to comply with the Premier League’s profitability and sustainability regulations. Morgan Rogers has been linked with an exit, but the club may be more open to selling Tielemans due to the pure profit he would represent on the books, which would be a massive boost in the regulations.
Tielemans himself has also hinted that he could be willing to move away from Villa this summer while speaking to the media during international duty with Belgium.
“I feel good at Villa. I feel a lot of confidence from the club and the coach,” he said in a press conference ahead of the World Cup qualifier against Wales.
“I was constantly at a very high level and involved in Villa’s game. I have made progress in all areas.
“Does that make me think about a transfer? Nothing is ruled out, but I don’t think about that.
“I am doing well at Villa. I feel a lot of confidence from the club and the coach.”
Tielemans’ comments come amid reports over Arsenal transfer target Martin Zubimendi.
Reports in Spain claim that Real Madrid is trying to hijack the deal with Xabi Alonso, who is keen on working with the player. It is also added that Zubimendi may be open to moving to Real Madrid and likes the idea of staying in Spain.
Should the Spanish giants succeed in their late move for Zubimendi, Arsenal would be left looking for an alternative. Tielemans could be the player they need, and the signs point to a deal being possible to be done.
Tielemans’ arrival at Arsenal would be good news for Declan Rice. The pair could form a formidable partnership in the heart of the Gunners’ midfield.
The Belgian maestro’s creativity could perfectly offset Rice’s all-action style of play and give the side a new edge in attack.
Having first been linked with Arsenal in 2022, Tielemans’ arrival would complete a three-year mission for Mikel Arteta and could also help drive another Premier League title push.
Martin Zubimendi Deal Jepoardy
Real Madrid is pushing hard to hijack Arsenal’s deal to sign Martin Zubimendi, but the Gunners remain confident the midfielder will join them this summer.
The Real Sociedad star has been on Arsenal’s radar for a number of years, and Mikel Arteta admires the player’s talents. The 26-year-old has already verbally agreed to a move to Emirates Stadium, with only the medical set to be completed.
The player has a €60million (£51million) release clause in his contract, and any move will likely be announced in July for accounting reasons. Spanish giants Madrid are understood to be interested in hijacking the deal, however, with the La Liga side pushing hard to convince the player to choose them over the Gunners.
Arsenal have long been confident that they will get the deal done, though, as a lot of work has gone into the pursuit of Zubimendi. The Spanish international’s move to Arsenal remains at an advanced stage, although it’s thought the situation remains open amid the fresh Madrid links.
Zubimendi, who played 48 times for Sociedad throughout the 2024/25 season, is seen as Arsenal’s perfect No.6 this summer. With Jorginho’s exit already confirmed, the club is also trying to persuade Thomas Partey to stay for a further year, with the Ghanaian’s contract set to expire in a matter of weeks.
The Gunners are expected to be extremely busy this summer. The club is understood to be in the market for a backup goalkeeper, defender, central midfielder, striker, and possibly a wide forward.
The north Londoners are set to sign Kepa Arrizabalaga after the Spaniard agreed to switch from Chelsea.
The club will only have to pay the £ 5 million release clause plus the player’s wages, which are expected to have dropped since he signed in West London from Athletic Club.
The fee was a world record for a goalkeeper at the time. He became Bournemouth’s starter last season and, despite missing five league games, finished sixth in the Premier League clean sheet table for keepers with eight.
Benjamin Sesko and Viktor Gyokeres are the two strikers who have been heavily linked with a switch to Arsenal. It’s believed a move for Sesko is favoured, though, with Gunners chiefs keen to push on with a deal in the coming days.
Fans with Arsenal tickets understand that their club needs to speed up their transfer negotiations, or else ample clubs are looking for top-tier players this season.
Arsenal needs to be fast in this transfer window if they need a world-class title-winning squad next season.
