Arsenal make contact to sign PSG’s Warren Zaire-Emery
Arsenal have reportedly made contact over a deal to sign Paris Saint-Germain star Warren Zaire-Emery, as per transfer journalist Graeme Bailey.
The Gunners are prioritising reinforcing the frontline this summer with the signing of a new striker and left winger on Mikel Arteta’s agenda. However, they are also having to rebuild the midfield department.
Thomas Partey and Jorginho were the two options for the deep-lying playmaker position. However, the Italian has left as a free agent, and Flamengo have opted to hire him. Following his departure, Arteta’s side are closing in on a deal to sign Martin Zubimendi from Real Sociedad.
Partey is also set to become available for free this summer, and the Gunners initially wanted to keep him by tying him down to a fresh term. However, it has recently been reported that both parties have been struggling to find an agreement, so the Ghanaian is looking likely to leave.
Therefore, it appears Arsenal have started exploring the market to sign a new midfielder this summer, and reporting on TBR Football, Bailey says that the Emirates club have registered their interest in Zaire-Emery. They have even held talks with PSG to learn about the details of signing the Frenchman.
However, the North London club aren’t the only team in this race as Chelsea, Liverpool, Bayern Munich, and Barcelona are also considering making a move for him.
Zaire-Emery to Arsenal
But PSG don’t want to let him leave, while the midfielder is ready to stay at Parc des Princes to fight for his place. Therefore, Arteta’s side will have to overcome several obstacles to seal the deal.
Zaire-Emery is valued at around £47m by Transfermarkt and still has three years left in his current contract. Therefore, PSG are in a strong position to demand a big fee if they are forced to cash-in.
The 19-year-old burst onto the scene, having displayed impressive performances for Les Parisiens. But following João Neves’ arrival last summer, he found it difficult to play regularly last term.
Zaire-Emery is a technically gifted box-to-box midfielder and possesses high potential. Therefore, he would be a great coup for Arsenal should they eventually manage to secure his service in this transfer window.
