Arsenal agree terms to sign Leipzig star Benjamin Sesko

Arsenal have reportedly ‘reached an agreement’ with RB Leipzig star Benjamin Sesko regarding the personal terms, as per German outlet Sport Bild.
The Gunners are prioritising strengthening the centre-forward position by signing a new prolific striker this summer. Newcastle United star Alexander Isak initially emerged as the primary option, but following the Magpies’ Champions League qualification, they have made it clear that they won’t let the Swedish international leave.
So, the North London club have decided to shift focus to alternative options with Sesko and Viktor Gyokeres heavily linked with a move. It has even been reported that the Sporting CP star is ready to move to the Emirates Stadium.
However, while citing and translating the print version of Sport Bild, Sport Witness report that Arsenal have ‘reached an agreement’ with Sesko regarding the personal terms and will now make a formal bid to Leipzig to seal the deal.
The Gunners’ opening bid could be around £68m-£85m, which is the valuation Die Roten Bullen are demanding to let the Slovenian international leave with his existing deal set to run until 2029.
So, if the North London club eventually decide to hire Sesko, it remains to be seen whether they opt to make a move for Gyokeres as well. Funding both deals could be difficult and unnecessary unless they sell Kai Havertz and Gabriel Jesus.
Sesko to Arsenal
Moreover, Arsenal also want a new left-sided forward and have identified Rodrygo as a serious option after missing out on Athletic Club star Nico Williams. Real Madrid reportedly want around £77m for him, so saving money to sign the Brazilian would be a better decision than signing two new strikers this summer.
Leipzig endured a difficult campaign last term and failed to qualify for any European competitions. However, Sesko showcased his goal-scoring prowess, making 27 goal contributions in all competitions.
The Slovenian is quick, good in the air, has an eye for scoring goals from distance, and is also efficient in finishing off his chances. He is a talented player and possesses the necessary attributes to become a world-class striker in the future.
Therefore, the 21-year-old would be a great coup for the Emirates club should they eventually manage to secure his service before the start of next season.
