Arsenal ‘considering’ signing Leipzig star Antonio Nusa
Arsenal are reportedly ‘considering’ signing RB Leipzig forward Antonio Nusa, as per Caught Offside.
After being impressed by the Norwegian’s displays at Club Brugge, several Premier League clubs expressed their interest in signing him. Brentford even agreed on a deal in principle with the Belgian side to purchase him in January last year.
However, the player couldn’t pass the medical, so the Bees decided to send him back to Brugge before he signed for the German side last summer.
Upon moving to Red Bull Arena, the 20-year-old displayed promising performances last term, making 11 goal contributions in all competitions. He has now been a regular member of the Norway national team and helped his country thrash Italy 3-0 last week by scoring a goal and registering an assist.
Now, Caught Offside state that Arsenal are prioritising signing a new striker this summer and have been in negotiations with Leipzig to purchase Benjamin Sesko.
Simultaneously, Mikel Arteta’s side are ‘considering’ signing Nusa from Die Roten Bullen to reinforce the left flank following Gabriel Martinelli and Leandro Trossard’s average displays last term.
Nusa to Arsenal
Arsenal could even step up their efforts to seal the deal, and Leipzig value their star man at around £38m with his existing deal set to run until 2029.
However, the North London club aren’t the only club interested in the Norwegian international as Chelsea, Newcastle United, Aston Villa, Everton, and Napoli are also in this race.
Signing a new midfielder, striker, and left winger is seemingly Arsenal’s priority this summer after closing in on a deal to hire Kepa Arrizabalaga to support David Raya. Martin Zubimendi is reportedly set to join to bolster the engine room.
Sesko and Viktor Gyokeres have been mentioned as priority targets for Arteta to reinforce the centre-forward position. But, it is still unclear who they want for the left flank.
With every passing day this summer, they have been getting linked with a new left winger. Nico Williams is reportedly their primary target, but purchasing him won’t be easy, as Athletic Club don’t want to let him leave and Bayern Munich have also entered the race.
Nusa is a talented player and possesses high potential. But, he is still young and might not be able to help Arsenal achieve their lofty ambitions straightaway should he eventually move to the Emirates Stadium in this window.
