Arsenal have reportedly held talks over a deal to sign Real Madrid forward Rodrygo Goes, as per Spanish outlet Fichajes.

After moving to the Estadio Santiago Bernabéu from Santos, the 24-year-old established himself as a key player in former boss Carlo Ancelotti’s starting eleven.

He even enjoyed great success with the Italian, winning multiple league titles, a couple of Champions League trophies, and a few major cup competitions.

However, he found himself on the periphery towards the back end of last season. So, speculation surrounding his future has been emerging in this summer window.

Fichajes state that following Kylian Mbappe’s arrival, Rodrygo’s importance at Real Madrid has reduced, but he wants to play regularly. Therefore, the Brazilian might be open to moving away, and Arsenal have expressed their interest in signing him.

The Gunners have an ‘advantage’ to secure his service after opening talks with the player’s representatives over this deal. They are even ready to table a formal proposal that will satisfy Real Madrid to let him leave.

Rodrygo to Arsenal

Los Blancos aren’t prioritising selling him this summer, but could be ready to let him leave to generate funds to reinforce other areas. The South American still has three years left in his current contract and is valued at around £76m by Transfermarkt.

Rodrygo is a left-winger by trait, but didn’t get the opportunity to play in his preferred position at Real Madrid regularly due to Vinicius Junior’s presence. He usually played as a right-sided forward.

Arsenal are reportedly looking for a new left winger as Gabriel Martinelli and Leandro Trossard failed to produce regularly last term. They have been linked with a few names, with Nico Williams, Alejandro Garnacho, and Anthony Gordon being among them. However, the South American is on their radar as well.

Rodrygo is a top-class player and hasn’t reached his prime yet. He is technically sound, efficient in taking set pieces, can dribble past opposition defenders in tight areas, has the ability to create opportunities for fellow attackers, and also works hard without possession.

Therefore, he would be a great coup for Arsenal should they eventually manage to lure him to the Emirates Stadium in this transfer window.
