Arsenal receive double boost to sign Mohammed Kudus
Arsenal have received a double boost to sign West Ham United star Mohammed Kudus, as per Football Insider.
After moving to London Stadium from Ajax Amsterdam ahead of the 2023/24 season, the Ghanaian enjoyed a promising debut campaign for the Hammers, scoring 14 goals and registering six assists in all competitions.
However, he couldn’t manage to replicate the same performance in the recently concluded campaign, making nine goal contributions in 35 appearances in all competitions.
Despite that, Football Insider state that Arsenal and Liverpool are interested in signing him, and either club could make a concrete approach to secure his service this summer.
Saudi Arabian clubs are also interested in the African, but he doesn’t want to leave Europe yet. Therefore, he will not entertain any offer from the Middle East.
West Ham will undergo a major rebuild under Graham Potter’s guidance and are open to cashing-in on Kudus to raise funds.
He has a £75m release clause in his current contract, which will run until 2028, but Arsenal are hoping to get the deal done for less than that, and the Hammers may even accept it. Therefore, this is a double boost for the North London club in pursuit of the West Ham star.
Kudus to Arsenal
Kudus is comfortable playing on either flank and is also efficient in the CAM role. He is quick, strong, efficient in dribbling past opposition defenders in tight areas and also has an eye for scoring goals from distance.
However, his application off the ball isn’t the best, and considering the Gunners like pressing from the front, he might not be the best possible option to strengthen the squad, especially given that he won’t come cheap.
Nevertheless, it is going to be interesting to see whether the North London club eventually make a concrete approach to secure his service in the upcoming transfer window.
Meanwhile, Arsenal are expected to remain busy this summer to bolster several areas of the squad to bridge the gap with Liverpool. After closing in on a deal to sign Martin Zubimendi, they are going for a new striker with Benjamin Sesko seemingly the primary target.
