Arsenal keen on beating PL rival to sign Bilal El Khannouss

By on May 30, 2025

Arsenal are reportedly keen on beating a Premier League rival in the race to sign Leicester City star Bilal El Khannouss, as per GiveMeSport.

History has shown that purchasing players from relegated sides can be a great value, as usually they are available for cut-price deals. Liverpool previously signed Xherdan Shaqiri from Stoke City, and he won the Premier League title and the Champions League trophy at Anfield.

Moreover, Manchester City hired Nathan Ake from AFC Bournemouth, and he established himself as the mainstay in Pep Guardiola’s starting eleven before enduring an injury-plagued campaign this term. He has won every possible major competition at the Etihad Stadium over the years.

Now, Arsenal are also planning to do the same and sign El Khannouss. He scored goals against Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United in the recently concluded campaign.

GiveMeSport report that Arsenal have expressed their interest in signing the Moroccan international and could make a concrete approach over the coming weeks.

Although the player still has three years left in his current contract, the Foxes are prepared to cash-in on him for a fee of around £22m.

El Khannouss to Arsenal

However, the report say that purchasing El Khannouss won’t be straightforward as Wolverhampton Wanderers are also plotting a swoop for him.

The 21-year-old is an attacking midfielder by trait, but can also provide cover on the left flank. Therefore, he can provide cover for Martin Odegaard and on the left flank, where the Gunners are said to be planning to purchase a new option.

El Khannouss has the technical qualities to flourish in Arteta’s possession-based system. Therefore, he could be a shrewd bargain acquisition for Arsenal to add depth to the squad should they purchase him.

After missing out on winning the Premier League title once again, Arsenal are planning to spend big this summer. They are already closing in on a deal to hire Martin Zubimendi to bolster the midfield, while they want a new striker as well, with Benjamin Sesko and Viktor Gyokeres being the priority options.

Therefore, it is going to be interesting to see how much money the Emirates club eventually spend this summer to bolster the squad.
