Arsenal face Liverpool battle for Takefusa Kubo

Arsenal are keeping a close eye on Real Sociedad winger Takefusa Kubo, according to reports from AS, relayed by Sport Witness.

The Gunners are looking to add more quality to their squad. Injuries and fatigue played a major role in their failure to win a trophy this season.

Arsenal have enjoyed good dealings with Real Sociedad in the past. That relationship could play a key role in any possible deal for the Japanese star.

Mikel Merino was signed from Sociedad, and Arsenal are also nearing a move for midfielder Martin Zubimendi. This shows strong links between both clubs.

Kubo is seen as a player who could bring more creativity to the Arsenal attack. Though not a high-scoring winger, his playing style suits the team.

He is a left-footed attacker who mostly plays on the right wing. He is also able to operate in other forward positions when needed.

Kubo is quick, sharp on the ball, and very good at cutting inside onto his stronger foot. These traits make him a tough player to mark.

There is belief that under Mikel Arteta, the 23-year-old could become even better and offer more goals and assists than he currently does.

Liverpool also keen on the Japanese star

Arsenal are showing an interest in the winger but they face competition as Liverpool are also monitoring Kobo’s situation very closely, as per the report.

Liverpool boss Arne Slot is planning to build on their recent Premier League title win. Strengthening the squad is top of his plans.

The Reds already have Mohamed Salah, but need another reliable option to support the Egyptian forward in attack.

Kubo has scored seven goals and provided four assists this season. He has proven himself in La Liga and could adapt to the Premier League.

His release clause is reportedly around £51 million. It is still unclear if either Arsenal or Liverpool are ready to pay that full amount.

AS also reported that Real Madrid will receive 50 percent of any transfer fee from Kubo’s sale, which could affect negotiations.
