Arsenal interested in signing Aston Villa star Jacob Ramsey
Arsenal are reportedly interested in purchasing Aston Villa midfielder Jacob Ramsey, as per talkSPORT.
Following Jorginho’s departure as a free agent, the Gunners are closing in on a deal to sign Martin Zubimendi from Real Sociedad. Liverpool were keen on hiring him last summer and made a concrete approach.
But the player rejected a move to Anfield, and the North London club have now managed to persuade him to join. Mikel Arteta’s side purchased Mikel Merino last summer from La Real, while Martin Odegaard previously had a loan spell at Reale Arena.
The trio was Real Sociedad’s first-choice midfield three during the 2019/20 season under Imanol Alguacil. Now, they are set to be reunited once again.
Moreover, Arsenal are also keen on bolstering the centre-forward position by signing a new prolific goalscorer. A host of names have been linked with a move to the Emirates Stadium, with Benjamin Sesko and Viktor Gyokeres being among them.
Ramsey to Arsenal
Furthermore, Arteta also wants a new left winger following Leandro Trossard and Gabriel Martinelli’s inconsistent displays this season. Nico Williams, Anthony Gordon, and Rafael Leao have all been suggested as potential targets.
Now, talkSPORT state that Arsenal are also interested in signing Ramsey and could make a concrete approach this summer. Following Aston Villa’s failure to qualify for the Champions League, they could be forced to sell some players to balance the books.
They may let the Englishman leave as he is their academy graduate, and his sale will be a 100% profit for the club.
The 24-year-old will enter the final two years of his current contract this summer. Therefore, the Villans can demand a sizable amount of money to let him leave and have slapped a £50m price tag on his head.
However, Tottenham Hotspur and Newcastle United are also interested in him; therefore, purchasing him won’t be straightforward for Arsenal.
Ramsey is a left-sided forward by trait but can also provide cover in the box-to-box role in a midfield three. Arteta likes having versatile players, so perhaps, the Spaniard is interested in hiring him.
Ramsey has showcased his qualities in the Premier League in recent years, but isn’t a prolific forward. Therefore, he might not be the ideal option for Arsenal to bolster the left flank.
