Arsenal send offer for Sporting striker Gyokeres
Arsenal have taken a major step towards signing Viktor Gyokeres. They have sent club officials to Lisbon to meet with his agent, Hasan Cetinkaya.
The meeting took place earlier this week, according to Portuguese source Correio da Manhã.
The Gunners are eager to bring in a new striker after falling short in the Premier League and Champions League.
They believe Gyokeres fits the bill perfectly. He has become one of the most sought-after forwards in Europe after a strong season in Portugal.
Arsenal have been strongly linked in recent months and they’ve now formalised their interest after submitting a formal offer for the striker. The bid is worth £59 million plus bonuses, as per the report.
Cetinkaya will now present the offer to Sporting CP president Frederico Varandas.
The club are also offering Gyokeres a five-year deal. The contract is worth £6 million a season.
He will also receive a £10 million signing-on fee as part of the proposed agreement.
Swede’s goal record sparks intense interest
Gyokeres had a standout season with Sporting. He scored 54 goals and made 13 assists in 52 matches.
His total of 67 goal contributions has caught the eye of several top clubs.
Arsenal’s sporting director Andrea Berta is a big admirer of the Sweden international.
He believes the 26-year-old can solve their problems in the final third.
However, Arsenal are not alone in the race for Gyokeres. Chelsea and Manchester United are also keen on signing him this summer. Both clubs are closely monitoring his situation.
Despite this, Arsenal remain hopeful. They want to finalise the deal as early as possible before pre-season begins.
The club have also been keeping tabs on Benjamin Sesko of RB Leipzig. He is another option they are considering for the striker role.
Arsenal are determined to bring in the right player who will help them push for silverware next season.
Manager Mikel Arteta wants more quality and depth up front. The club believe Gyokeres could be the key addition to help them reach their goals.
Arsenal’s summer transfer plans are already in full swing. Their move for Gyokeres shows how serious they are about taking the next step.
