Arsenal eyeing Lookman as attacking option

Arsenal are reportedly interested in signing Atalanta forward Ademola Lookman as they look to improve their attacking options this summer.

Reports from journalist Florian Plettenberg suggest that the Gunners are now keeping a close eye on the Nigerian international.

Mikel Arteta’s side are exploring attacking reinforcements ahead of the new season and see Lookman as a valuable option.

The 27-year-old has impressed in Italy and was a key figure for Atalanta last season under manager Gian Piero Gasperini.

Lookman is also a regular for the Nigerian national team and played a vital role in their recent campaigns.

He is known for his versatility, which allows him to play on either wing or support the striker in a central role.

This flexibility has reportedly made him a popular name among decision-makers at Arsenal as they shape their summer plans.

Lookman Seen as Cheaper Alternative to Rodrygo

The Gunners are also said to be admirers of Real Madrid star Rodrygo, but a deal for the Brazilian could prove difficult.

Rodrygo is still highly rated by Arsenal, though his price and status at Madrid may put him out of reach for now.

In contrast, Lookman presents a more realistic and affordable option for the North London club this summer.

According to Transfermarkt, the former RB Leipzig and Leicester City player is currently valued at around £50 million.

His output this season further strengthens his case, having scored 20 goals and provided five assists in all competitions.

Lookman’s speed, movement and technical skill have made him one of Atalanta’s most dangerous players in the final third.

His performances in Serie A and in Europe have shown that he can make a difference at the highest level.

Lookman made headlines after scoring a hat-trick in Atalanta’s 3-0 win over Bayer Leverkusen in the 2024 Europa League final.

He became the first player to score a hat-trick in a single-leg Europa League final.

Arsenal will continue to assess their options, but Lookman is now seen as a strong candidate to boost their squad depth.

If the deal goes through, he could offer quality and cover across several roles in Arteta’s forward line.
