Arsenal ‘preparing’ to submit bid to sign Rodrygo Goes
Arsenal are reportedly ‘preparing’ to submit a formal proposal to sign Real Madrid forward Rodrygo Goes, as per Spanish outlet Fichajes.
The Brazilian has enjoyed a successful spell with Los Blancos over the years under Carlo Ancelotti. However, the Spanish giants have decided to make a managerial change, having gone trophyless this season.
Xabi Alonso is set to become the new manager, and they are expected to remain busy this summer to hand the Spanish boss new signings. They have already signed Trent Alexander-Arnold and Dean Huijsen.
Now, Fichajes state that Real Madrid are planning to add more firepower to their attack, and Rodrygo is at risk of going down in the pecking order.
Therefore, the Brazilian could be open to leaving, and Arsenal are adamant to persuade him to join as they are looking to reinforce the frontline with quality players to finally win the Premier League.
The North London club are willing to open negotiations with Real Madrid over this deal and are preparing to submit a formal proposal that will ‘satisfy’ Los Merengues’ demand.
The Brazilian’s existing deal will run until 2028 at Estadio Santiago Bernabeu and is valued at around £84m by Transfermarkt. Therefore, they are likely to demand a huge fee to let him leave.
Rodrygo to Arsenal
Rodrygo is a versatile forward as he likes to play on the left flank but is also efficient on the opposite side. Although Real Madrid have had a disappointing campaign this season and the forward hasn’t been at his best either, he has made 25 goal contributions in all competitions.
Arsenal need to add quality players like him to close the gap with Liverpool, but the Gunners need a new striker more than a wide forward, and it won’t be easy to strengthen these two positions with two world-class players in the same window.
However, if Rodrygo eventually leaves this summer, Arsenal shouldn’t give up an opportunity like this to hire a player of his qualities.
It is going to be interesting to see whether the Emirates club can eventually manage to secure his service in the upcoming transfer window.
