Confirmed line-ups: Arsenal vs Newcastle United – Rice and Trossard start for Gunners
Arsenal play their final home game of the season as we take on Newcastle United at the Emirates Stadium this afternoon.
The match has huge significance in the race to finish in the Champions League qualification places. Third-placed Newcastle are just two points behind second placed Arsenal so the winner of this game will be in pole position to finish in the runners-up spot.
Mikel Arteta has been handed a major boost as Declan Rice has passed a late fitness test after missing the 2-2 draw at Liverpool last weekend with a tight hamstring. Rice partners Thomas Partey and captain Martin Odegaard in midfield today.
David Raya keeps goal once again while Jakub Kiwior partners William Saliba in the middle of Arsenal’s defence in the continued absence of Gabriel Magalhaes. Ben White keeps his place at right-back with Jurrien Timber out while Myles Lewis-Skelly starts at left-back once again.
Bukayo Saka starts on the right wing while Gabriel Martinelli will be hoping to continue his recent good form with another impressive display on the left flank.
Mikel Merino is suspended after being sent off against Liverpool so Leandro Trossard leads the line up front. Kai Havertz is back on the bench for Arsenal after making a swift recovery from a hamstring injury that was initially expected to keep him out for the rest of the season.
These are the line-ups:
Arsenal
Raya, White, Saliba, Kiwior, Lewis-Skelly, Partey, Rice, Odegaard, Saka, Martinelli, Trossard.
Subs: Neto, Calafiori, Tierney, Zinchenko, Jorginho, Henry-Francis, Nwaneri, Sterling, Havertz.
