Arsenal ‘getting excited’ to sign Real Madrid star Rodrygo
Arsenal are reportedly ‘getting excited’ to sign Real Madrid star Rodrygo Goes, as per transfer journalist Graeme Bailey.
Since joining Los Blancos from Santos back in 2019, the Brazilian has enjoyed a successful time over the years, winning three La Liga titles, two Champions League trophies, and several other major cup competitions.
Having displayed his qualities in club football, the 24-year-old has also established himself as a key player for the Brazil national team.
However, since Kylian Mbappe’s arrival, Real Madrid’s attacking dynamic has changed this season, and Rodrygo’s importance in the squad has reduced significantly.
On TBR Football, Bailey says that Rodrygo has made up his mind 90% that he will move away from Estadio Santiago Bernabéu at the end of this season, and several clubs have already started making moves to hire him.
Arsenal hold a long-term interest in him, and they are ‘getting excited’ to secure his service by taking advantage of his current contract. They have even made contact to seal the deal.
Rodrygo to Arsenal
However, Arsenal will have to overcome a fierce battle to purchase him as Liverpool, Chelsea, Manchester City, and Bayern Munich are also keen on signing him.
Rodrygo is a technically gifted wide forward and efficient in dribbling past opposition defenders in tight areas. He is excellent at taking set pieces and also works hard without possession.
Arsenal currently have Gabriel Martinelli and Leandro Trossard as the two left-sided forwards, but Mikel Arteta reportedly wants to upgrade this position to bridge the gap with Liverpool.
Rodrygo is considered one of the best young players and has showcased his qualities at the highest level in recent years. His contributions at Real Madrid have largely gone unnoticed, while Vinícius Júnior has received the majority of the praise for Los Blancos’ recent successes.
He would be a great coup for the North London club should they eventually manage to persuade him to join in the upcoming transfer window.
Meanwhile, following a 2-2 draw against Liverpool in the Premier League, Arsenal will face off against Newcastle United this weekend before taking on Southampton in the final game of this season.
