Arsenal eyeing move for Chelsea’s Andrey Santos

By on May 13, 2025

Arsenal are reportedly working on a move to sign Chelsea’s Brazilian midfielder Andrey Santos, according to Le10Sport.

The 21-year-old has impressed while on loan at Strasbourg in Ligue 1. The north London club are actively looking to strengthen their midfield ahead of the transfer window. Santos has emerged as a potential addition, especially with uncertainty surrounding the future of Thomas Partey.

Partey is yet to agree a contract extension and could leave for free this summer if no deal is reached. This situation has prompted Arsenal to explore other options in that position.

The Gunners are close to completing a deal for Real Sociedad’s Martin Zubimendi. However, they are still looking at more additions in midfield with Jorginho also set to depart when his deal expires in June.

PSG also interested in in-form Brazilian

Santos has now emerged as a prime target with Le10Sport claiming Arsenal are ‘working hard’ trying to secure a deal for the £21m-rated [Transfermarkt] South American.

However, the Gunners face competition as the report says Paris Saint-Germain are also showing a keen interest in Santos after his superb campaign in France.

The young Brazilian has been one of Strasbourg’s standout performers this season. He has scored nine goals and provided three assists in 31 Ligue 1 appearances.

His performances in France have raised his stock, and clubs are now lining up to secure his signature. Arsenal want to improve their midfield’s output in front of goal, and Santos fits that need.

He is capable of playing both as a defensive and central midfielder. His ability to win tackles, dominate in the air, and make key blocks has made him a valuable asset.

Arsenal believe a midfielder with such qualities could bring extra balance and drive to their team.

Chelsea signed Santos from Vasco da Gama in 2023. He had a short loan spell at Nottingham Forest in the first half of last season.

He played just twice for Forest before being recalled and sent to Strasbourg in February 2024.

It remains to be seen whether Chelsea will be open to selling him to a Premier League rival. The Blues may be reluctant to strengthen a direct competitor such as Arsenal.

The Gunners will hope their strong interest, and the player’s desire for top-level football, could help in convincing all parties involved.
