Arsenal target Kevin De Bruyne free transfer move

By on May 6, 2025

Arsenal are reportedly interested in signing Kevin De Bruyne on a free transfer at the end of the season.

According to TBR Football, the Gunners want to add experience and creativity to their midfield and they’ve identified the Belgian as a target.

Manager Mikel Arteta is believed to be leading the push for De Bruyne, whom he worked with at Manchester City.

Martin Odegaard remains Arsenal’s first-choice attacking midfielder but has struggled with form this season.

Arteta wants more quality in that position and sees De Bruyne as a perfect fit to push and support the Norwegian.

De Bruyne has announced he will leave Manchester City this summer when his contract expires.

This has alerted top clubs across Europe, with many looking to snap up the midfielder without paying a fee.

The Belgian is open to staying in Europe, despite interest from Saudi Arabian clubs earlier in the year.

Arsenal could offer him a chance to stay in England and compete at the highest level in the Premier League.

Competition from English and European clubs

Arsenal are not the only club showing interest in the 33-year-old playmaker.

Aston Villa and Chelsea are also said to be monitoring his situation ahead of the summer transfer window.

Both clubs want to bring in experience and creativity as they prepare for European football next season.

Bayern Munich have also been linked and could try to tempt De Bruyne back to Germany.

He previously played for Wolfsburg before joining Manchester City in 2015.

His time in the Bundesliga was a key part of his rise as one of Europe’s top midfielders.

De Bruyne has won multiple Premier League titles, domestic cups and the UEFA Champions League at City.

He is widely seen as one of the greatest midfielders the English top flight has ever produced.

Arsenal believe his winning mentality and technical skills would suit their project under Arteta.

A move could also bring leadership to a young squad that is aiming to win major honours.

The Gunners have not made a formal offer yet but are expected to hold talks once the season ends.
