Arsenal eye move to sign Frankfurt star Hugo Larsson

By on May 2, 2025

Arsenal are reportedly interested in signing Eintracht Frankfurt star Hugo Larsson, as per the German outlet Sport Bild.

The Eagles have enjoyed a promising campaign under Dino Toppmoller’s guidance this season, as a result, a few of their key players have attracted the attention of big clubs around Europe.

Omar Marmoush was already snared away by Manchester City in the winter window, while Hugo Ekitike has been heavily linked with a move away, having enjoyed a productive campaign this season.

Now, Sport Bild (via Sport Witness) report that Arsenal are interested in Larsson and could make a formal approach during the off-season to secure his service.

Frankfurt don’t want to part ways with him with his existing deal set to run until 2029. Champions League qualification may even help them to persuade him to stay for one more year at least.

The Eagles are currently third in the Bundesliga table and are six points above the Europa League spot with three games left to play this season. Therefore, they are on course to play in Europe’s elite club competition next season.

Larsson to Arsenal

However, the player has impressed several big English clubs, along with Arsenal, as Liverpool and Manchester City are also in this race. Therefore, if Frankfurt are forced to cash-in on the Swedish international, they want around £51m.

Larsson is comfortable playing in the defensive midfield and box-to-box role. But he has been flourishing as a double midfield pivot under Toppmoller.

Arsenal are seemingly planning to hire a new midfielder this summer as Jorginho is set to leave as a free agent. Thomas Partey’s current deal will also expire at the end of this season, but Mikel Arteta’s side are said to be willing to keep hold of him by tying him down to a fresh term.

Larsson is a talented young player and possesses high potential, so he would be a shrewd acquisition for Arsenal with a view to the long-term future if they purchase him.

Meanwhile, after losing to PSG in the Champions League semi-final first leg, Arsenal will take on AFC Bournemouth in the Premier League this weekend before taking on Les Parisiens in the second leg next week.
