Arsenal target Newcastle’s Bruno Guimaraes for summer move
Arsenal have reportedly added Newcastle midfielder Bruno Guimaraes to their list of summer transfer targets. According to Talksport’s Alex Crook, the Gunners are ready to test Newcastle’s resolve.
The Brazilian playmaker has been a key figure for Newcastle since joining from Lyon in 2022. He has made 144 appearances, scoring 20 goals and providing 24 assists.
Guimaraes captained Newcastle to their first major domestic trophy in 70 years, winning the Carabao Cup against Liverpool.
The 27-year-old broke down in tears at Wembley after the final whistle. He later sent an emotional message to supporters, expressing his joy and gratitude.
Goals from Dan Burn and Alexander Isak secured the historic 2-0 victory.
Despite his importance to Newcastle, Arsenal believe they could still lure him away. The Magpies are at risk of missing out on Champions League qualification, which could make them vulnerable to offers.
Guimaraes is under contract until 2028, but a £100 million release clause reportedly expired last summer.
Arsenal’s midfield revamp plans
Arsenal are already in advanced negotiations with Real Sociedad midfielder Martin Zubimendi.
The Gunners are pushing to complete a £51 million deal for the Spaniard. Zubimendi rejected a move to Liverpool last year, but Arsenal are confident of sealing the transfer.
The club is planning a midfield overhaul with both Jorginho and Thomas Partey expected to leave as free agents.
Mikel Arteta wants to strengthen the squad with fresh, dynamic options ahead of next season.
Arsenal are considering signing both Zubimendi and Guimaraes to add quality and depth. The midfield duo would offer a blend of creativity, power, and experience.
Guimaraes’ success at Newcastle has raised his profile, making him a prized asset. However, Arsenal are prepared to test Newcastle’s stance with a tempting offer.
With Champions League qualification uncertain, Newcastle may face a tough decision. Arsenal are determined to strengthen their midfield and are keen to secure both targets.
