Arsenal to open talks to sign Juventus star Dusan Vlahovic
Arsenal are reportedly planning to open formal talks with Juventus over a deal to sign Dusan Vlahovic this summer, as per Italian outlet Tutto Juve.
The Gunners hold a long-term interest in the Serbian as they were reportedly keen on signing him a few years ago having been impressed by his performances for Fiorentina.
However, the player eventually opted to join the Bianconeri by rejecting a move to the Emirates Stadium. The striker hasn’t had a great time in Turin over the years and has now found himself out of favour under Thiago Motta following Randal Kolo Muani’s arrival in the winter window.
In 26 appearances in all competitions, he has scored 14 goals and registered two assists this term. The striker has entered the final 16 months of his current contract so speculation surrounding his future has started emerging ahead of the summer window.
Now, Tutto Juve state that talks regarding a fresh term between Vlahovic and Juventus have broken down so the Bianconeri would be forced to cash-in on him this summer to avoid losing him for free next year.
Vlahovic to Arsenal
Despite Vlahovic’s recent struggles at Allianz Stadium, Arsenal are still interested in him and are planning to open formal talks with the Italian giant to finally hire the long-term target by taking advantage of his current situation.
Motta’s side ideally want big money to sell him but they could be forced to accept a cut-price deal of around £25m.
Kai Havertz and Gabriel Jesus are the two strikers Arsenal currently have at their disposal but neither has managed to showcase that they have the necessary qualities to help the North London club achieve their lofty ambitions. Now, both have sustained serious injuries so their season is already over.
Although Vlahovic has endured a difficult time at Juventus, he, standing at 6ft 3in tall, is a talented player and is still just 25 so he has plenty of time to turn his situation around. Changing the environment could even help him achieve that.
Arsenal need a new striker and Vlahovic is seemingly available for a bargain deal. Therefore, purchasing him might not be a bad decision if the North London club eventually opt to secure his service.
