Confirmed line-ups: Nottingham Forest vs Arsenal – Jorginho starts
Arsenal need a win at Nottingham Forest tonight to keep alive any slim hopes of winning the Premier League title this season.
Saturday’s disastrous 1-0 defeat at home to West Ham has left us sitting 11 points adrift of leaders Liverpool. We do hold a game in hand but it’s still going to be extremely difficult to overhaul the deficit with just 12 games remaining and an injury crisis in attack.
With Bukayo Saka, Gabriel Martinelli, Gabriel Jesus and Kai Havertz all still out, Mikel Arteta is bereft of options in the final third. Thankfully, Ethan Nwaneri’s withdrawal against West Ham wasn’t serious as he was just suffering from cramp.
The young attacker keeps his place on the wing with Leandro Trossard on the opposite flank. Mikel Merino start up front as a make-shift striker so Raheem Sterling has to settle for a place on the bench.
The only change form the defeat to West Ham sees Jorginho has been given a recall to start in midfield at the expense of Thomas Partey. Martin Odegaard will be hoping to rediscover his best form after a poor few games while Declan Rice also starts in the middle of the park.
Ben White remains on the bench with Jurrien Timber keeping his place at right-back. Riccardo Calafiori starts at left-back with Myles Lewis-Skelly suspended following his dismissal on Saturday.
These are the teams:
Arsenal
Raya, Timber, Saliba, Gabriel, Calafiori, Jorginho, Rice, Odegaard, Nwaneri, Trossard, Merino.
Subs: Neto, Kiwior, White, Zinchenko, Tierney, Partey, Sterling, Kabia, Butler-Oyedeji.
Forest
Sels; Aina, Milenkovic, Murillo, Williams; Dominguez, Anderson; Elanga, Gibbs-White, Hudson-Odoi; Wood
Subs: Hennessey, Morato, Sangaré, Moreno, Yates, Danilo, Awoniyi, Silva, Sosa
