Arsenal showing ‘strongest interest’ in Rodrigo Mora
Arsenal are reportedly showing the ‘strongest interest’ in signing FC Porto star Rodrigo Mora, as per Caught Offside.
After ranking through the Portuguese giants’ youth system, the 17-year-old has become a key player for their first-team squad this season, scoring three goals and registering as many assists in five Liga Portugal starts.
Now, Caught Offside state that Arsenal have sent scouts to watch the youngster in action this season and after being impressed by him, they are now showing the ‘strongest interest’ in hiring him.
The midfielder has a £55m release clause in his current contract but the figure could increase to £70m between now and 2027. So, purchasing him won’t be cheap for the North London club.
Manchester United have also expressed a firm interest in hiring the youngster having monitored his performances closely. They are even convinced that the player is destined to reach the top.
Mora to Arsenal
Along with the Red Devils, Real Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain and Aston Villa are also keen on purchasing Mora, therefore, Arsenal will have to overcome a fierce battle to get the deal done.
The Porto starlet is a right-footed attacking midfielder. He is technically sound, can dribble past opposition defenders in tight areas, has the ability to play threading passes between the lines and is also efficient in finishing off his chances.
The Portuguese would be a shrewd acquisition for Arsenal with a view to the long-term future if they purchase him. However, Mora needs time to develop his career and he might not be able to help the Gunners achieve their lofty ambitions straightaway. So, the North Londoners will have to be patient with him should he join.
Meanwhile, after being knocked out of the Carabao Cup having been beaten by Newcastle United in the semi-final stage last week, Arsenal will return to action this weekend following a nine-day break.
They will travel to King Power Stadium to face off against Leicester City in the Premier League. Mikel Arteta’s side are second in the table and will be looking to return to winning ways by defeating the Foxes to maintain the title march.
