Arsenal plot raid to sign Brentford star Bryan Mbeumo
Arsenal are reportedly interested in signing Brentford forward Bryan Mbeumo, as per Caught Offside.
Following Ivan Toney’s departure, the Cameroonian has established himself as the talismanic figure for the Bees in recent times. He has been in excellent form thus far this season, scoring 14 goals and registering three assists in 23 Premier League appearances.
Now, Caught Offside claim that Arsenal want to sign a new striker before the deadline with Benjamin Sesko and Dusan Vlahovic on their radar. But if they eventually fail to hire either of them, Mikel Arteta’s side could look for a new wide forward as a potential replacement for Bukayo Saka – who has been out injured in recent weeks.
Mbeumo is on their radar and they could make a concrete approach to lure him to the Emirates Stadium before Monday’s deadline. The player has entered the final 18 months of his current contract so Thomas Frank’s side might be open to letting him leave this year to avoid losing him for free if they fail to persuade him to sign an extension.
Mbeumo – valued at around £42m by Transfermarkt – is a left-footed right-winger and has showcased his qualities in the English top-flight in recent times.
Mbeumo to Arsenal
He has just turned 25 and is currently at the perfect stage to take the next step in his career. Therefore, he could be an excellent acquisition for Arsenal if they purchase him.
Arsenal have had an inconsistent first half of this season. They are currently second in the Premier League table with 47 points from 23 games, sitting six points behind the league leaders Liverpool – who have a game in hand.
The Gunners attacking department have been hot and cold thus far this season so strengthening this position would help Arteta showcase more consistency in the second half of this season.
Nevertheless, it is going to be interesting to see whether the North London club eventually make a concrete approach to purchase Mbeumo before the deadline.
Meanwhile, after securing their place in the round of 16 of the Champions League, Arteta’s side will face off against reigning Premier League champions Manchester City on Sunday.
